OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST, RED DEER, ALBERTA, CANADA

There is an interesting opening for a fully qualified Occupational Therapist to join our team in Red Deer, Alberta.

It will be based at Red Deer Regional Hospital and the post holder will be part of the Immediate Care Team there.

Our Immediate Care Team is undergoing a period of fast expansion and work will be based both on the wards and in the local community.

As part of our staff’s work, you will undertake to support patients who have just suffered a stroke or neurological injury. Our hospital team work hard to ensure an early as possible discharge from the wards to either a recovery center, or the patient’s own home.

To achieve this goal, though, a lot has to be completed before they can go home.

Our trust has recently created two new teams, one for Rehabilitation and the other an Urgent Care Team in order to discharge patients back to their own homes, as soon as is possible.

We need a highly qualified and motivated person to join our team of professionals. The person would be in charge of an extensive and very complex caseload of patients and must have both the experience and the right manner with dealing with both patients and professionals.

The ICT is committed to providing a holistic service, to try and prevent any further re-admissions to hospital, by ensuring the patient has everything they need in place at home, for a successful recovery.

You will work with family members, care givers, social workers, care managers, doctors, physiotherapists and other professionals to ensure a successful transition from ward to home.

Hours of work are 35 a week, spread over a seven day week.

We welcome job share applications and applications from all members of the community.
